Creative Writing

I am a member of SCBWI, and I have written a book for teenagers exploring identity, adventure and Geoffrey Chaucer which was shortlisted for the 2011 Sunday Times and Chickenhouse Fiction competition.

My literary agent is Ben Illis at A.M.Heath

My Story 'Crazy Golf' has just been published in an anthology called 'The Toilet Monster and other stories' by  Pighog Press .

I graduated from the M.A in Creative Writing and Personal Development at Sussex University in 2009 with merit.  It is the only course in the UK with specific modules about how to teach writing groups. As part of my M.A I explored how Alexander Technique can be used to help unlock our creative unconscious.  When this happens writers tend to 'find their voice' and write authentically.

I am also a creative writing facilitator, with a particular interest in writing 'from the body' and using the senses to trigger poetry and prose.  I will be starting a new six week course in the spring for adults about 'writing from the self.' Please contact me by email if you are interested.

The West Hove Junior School Poetry Club I have been running has produced some amazing work over the last few weeks and the children are hoping to showcase their work in a book later this year.

I enjoy Short Fuse  short story events at the Komedia, and open mic poetry nights at Red Roaster on St James St and have performed my work at both.  Later in 2010 I will be running a half day workshop on how to improve your spoken performance using Alexander Technique.  Email me if you would like details of this when it happens.

My poem 'Scalpel' was recently commended for the 2010 Hippocrates Poetry and Medicine Prize and is included in their award winners anthology.

I was also highly commended in the individual poetry category of The New Writer Magazine 2009 prose and poetry awards.
